Plans for Easter?

Hey, it’s almost Easter. And that means Eastercon where, for all but one of the last twenty years(!), I’ve travelled to a hotel somewhere in the UK and talked writing and science fiction with a bunch of great people. This year I don’t have far to travel because the event returns to Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza hotel (next to the SECC) for the first time in a good while.

And it’s a bit different for another reason too, because this is where we’ll be launching The Moon King. I’ll be involved in a few bits and pieces over the course of the weekend, so if you’re at the event come along to one of them and say hi, or just find me randomly for a beer and a gab.

Friday 18th 6pm-7pm  NewCon Press and PS Publishing book launches.

As well as The Moon King (this is yer place to get it if you want it before it hits the shops, there will be hardbacks and paperbacks and everything), NewCon are releasing Eric Brown’s new collection, Strange Visitors, and their superb-looking Little Black Box containing two noir-inspired anthologies, La Femme and Noir.

PS Publishing will also be launching titles from Eric Brown and Ian Watson.  I imagine there will be wine on the go. It’s a launch after all.

Saturday 19th 7pm-8pm  Words and Music.

If you’re up for a bit of early evening semi-weirdness, I’m going to be talking about how I just can’t seem to keep the music half of my brain and the writing half of my brain apart. From musicals stories to storified cabaret song sets, I’ll be demonstrating the rather strange results with the aid of a piano and a lady toting a variety of hardware tools.

Sunday 20th 8pm-10pm (ish)  Planet Scotland

An hour or two of readings by Scottish-based writers. It’s organised by myself and Writers’ Bloc’s redoubtable Andrew J Wilson, will feature a bunch of excellent writers and we’re hoping to make this a lot of fun.

That’s it. If you’re coming to the con, hope to see you at one of these.
